 The Program
The Brookhaven treatment model
emphasizes a behavioral and relational approach to every aspect of
therapy for
a child. We believe that healing occurs in
relationships, not just in the theories or interventions
that we
utilize.
Youth work to achieve levels, which the youth must earn by achieving certain objectives, both behaviorally
and socially. A
youth must maintain his current level for a minimum length of time before being eligible to
move up to the next
level.
Youth are monitored and their progress
is assessed weekly by the
Treatment Team, which includes the therapists, direct care staff,
teachers, and other professionals working directly with the youth.
Youth are taught
integrity and respect through learning and practicing
appropriate social
interactions. We at Brookhaven believe in the
worth
and potential of every child, and work together to ensure that
every youth that enters our program has an opportunity
to change
and to transform into young men who are free of the burdens of their
past. These young men will be able to
impact their own generation
and generations to come in an affirmative and
productive way.
The Brookhaven Youth Ranch
Sexual Health Services
Program is
facilitated by Dr.
Jasmine Khan.
In
addition to the full range of services that all youth at Brookhaven
Youth Ranch receive,
youth in need of
specialized sexual health therapy are enrolled in our Sexual Health
Services
Program. The issues
addressed in this program range from sexual boundaries, sexual identity,
or sexual acting out
behaviors.
Brookhaven Youth Ranch has a Licensed Sexual Offender
Treatment Provider (LSOTP-S)
who along with
her trained staff provides individual and group
counseling services on an
as needed basis for these youth.
Sexually abusive youths follow a structured treatment
program based
on the Pathways Model which incorporates weekly individual and group
therapy services.
The LSOTP-S and her specialized staff also provides basic sexual education
to all youth at
Brookhaven Youth Ranch.
