The Program The Brookhaven treatment model emphasizes a "village" approach to every aspect of therapy for a child. We believe that healing occurs in relationships, not just in the theories or interventions that we utilize.
Youth work to achieve levels (SEE BELOW), which the youth must earn by achieving certain objectives, both behaviorally and socially. A youth must maintain his current level for a minimum length of time before being eligible to move up to the next level.
Youth are monitored and their progress is assessed weekly by the Treatment Team, which includes the therapists, direct care staff, teachers, and other professionals working directly with the youth.
Youth are taught integrity and respect through learning and practicing the following seven virtues:
These virtues will be a focus of the youth's treatment while at Brookhaven and will help the youth to look beyond his own needs and begin to respect and consider the needs of others. We at Brookhaven believe in the worth and potential of every child, and work together to ensure that every youth that enters our program has an opportunity to change and to transform into young men who are free of the burdens of their past. These young men will be able to impact their own generation and generations to come in an affirmative and productive way.
