The Brookhaven Youth Ranch Sexual Health Services Program is

facilitated by Dr. Jasmine Khan.

In addition to the full range of services that all youth at Brookhaven Youth Ranch receive,

youth in need of specialized sexual health therapy are enrolled in our Sexual Health Services

Program. The issues addressed in this program range from sexual boundaries, sexual identity,

or sexual acting out behaviors.

Brookhaven Youth Ranch has a Licensed Sexual Offender Treatment Provider (LSOTP-S),

who along with her trained staff, provides individual and group counseling services on an

as needed basis for these youth. Sexually abusive youths follow a structured treatment

program based on the Pathways Model which incorporates weekly individual and group

therapy services. The LSOTP-S and her specialized staff also provides basic sexual education

to all youth at Brookhaven Youth Ranch.

Our Sexual Health Services Program is being Strengthened.

Brookhaven Youth Ranch's Sexual Health Services Program is more focused than ever. We

are in the process of moving all youth with sexual behavior challenges to Hercules Cottage,

a 20 bed open concept dormitory which is more secure and affords a higher level of staff

supervision. The staff on this cottage are specifically trained to address the needs of our sex

offender population.

The sexual health services treatment team, led by Dr. Jasmine Kahn, now has more flexibility

in providing the highest level of services to a population with similar treatment needs. Group

and individual therapy will be easier to manage and there will be less disruption and unnecessary

movement of youth.

Video surveillance equipment, including 16 cameras have been purchased and will be installed

on the sexual health services cottage. This will bring an added measure of security and make

supervision of this challenging population more consistent and effective. This added surveillance

capability, assessable both on campus and remotely, will make sexual acting out behaviors on

Hercules Cottage more preventable, false accusations more difficult and inappropriate behaviors

less deniable.

As word spreads of our strengthened and expanded sexual health services program, referrals

from probation departments have shown dramatic increases. As these referrals continue to grow

we will broaden the sexual health services program as required to meet the needs of our referral

partners.
